Our Little Corner of the World

Just a quick update. His name is Grayson Robert if you didn't already know that. Lydianne started nursing him yesterday and is doing an awesome job. He is still in the NICU and they are wonderful. We have a little back corner where we can kind of hide out of the way. The tubes and wires make it difficult, and he's a little stubborn/sleepy, but Lydianne never gives up. 

What we've pretty much determined is that Grayson inhaled the meconium when her water broke while being prepped for surgery. It went deep enough into his lungs that when they suctioned him, they didn't want to go past his vocal cords, so it was deep down in his lungs. Now it is up to him to get that out of there. 

He started out at 2 liters of oxygen at 30%. Room air is around 21-22%. When they would lower it to room air, his blood saturation level would drop. They need it to stay above 92% and his would fall into the 80's. So they went back up to 30% Oxygen, then put him on 1 liter today but back up to 30%. So this is progress.

We are about 100 yards down the hall from him and Lydianne has been walking it each time. She is recovering, too, and is as determined as ever to feed him every three hours. She always amazes me. She did it all through the night last night and then during the day, getting about an hours' sleep between interruptions. 

Meanwhile, Abuela arrived late last night and she & I picked them up from Sylvia's after lunch. They were excited to see us and to return home. Harrison told me to tell Grayson, "I love you." They are having fun at home, I'm sure, but I know they are anxious to see mommy and the baby. It won't be long.
