Sorry for the delay in posting. We passed the 10-month old mark yesterday. Woo-hoo! I can't believe that much time has passed. The last week has been rather tedious. Harrison started coughing on Monday. Normally he gets a runny nose and all the drainage eventually gets into his lungs and whatnot, but this was different. No runny nose or fever, just a nasty cough. Tuesday was worse, and Wednesday night was downright scary. So Thursday Lydianne took him in to the doctor. She called to tell me he had RSV. I had never even heard of it, but thanks to Google, I was an expert within about 10 minutes, and immediately began diagnosing all of my friends' babies (and was right on a few of them). This is how Lydianne started the conversation though, "He's really really sick. It could be fatal. It's RSV." What?! How would you react?
So I headed up to CVS to pick up the prescription that was waiting for me. Although when I got there, they hadn't even received the fax from the Dr. yet. So I'm at the pharmacy, and for all I know Harrison is at home dying, waiting for his medicine that won't come. Luckily I had my sister, who is a neo-natal nurse in Atlanta, to give me some details. She tried to tell me how everything was going to be fine, but she also shared a story about how a perfectly healthy 10-month old had gotten the sniffles, been brought into her hospital, and died 2 days later from RSV. Thankfully, someone I knew worked at the pharmacy and she made sure they got mine filled as fast as possible.
It's a virus, so there's nothing they can really do. Since Thursday, he's been getting breathing treatments every 4 hours. Yeah, he's definitely not a fan of those. The doctor also taught us a good way of suctioning his nose. So now we're getting his sinuses good and clean. If we thought he hated the nebulizer, man, he really hates that. But it has all worked, because he is improving and has started breathing through his nose. The tentative plan is to move him back into his room tonight, but we'll see how we feel about it this evening. I have attached a little video of him getting a breathing treatment, because it is cute and pathetic at the same time. He looks so defeated. It is also the only time he actually sat still for one. I think it was when he was the sickest and just didn't have enough energy to fight anymore. Plus he is mesmerized by the camera:

I feel so bad for him. He looks exhausted. I can´t wait to see him all recovered.

Awww poor little guy!
Poor Harrison (and Lydianne and Kris)! RSV runs rampant in Utah, so when Easton was born in November (and RSV season is October to March- yes, it's so prevalent it has it's own season) I kept him away from everyone and everything because I was so scared of him getting RSV. People thought I was crazy and I started to believe I was crazy, but after reading this entry, I'm SO glad I did it! I'm glad to hear he's doing better and I hope you guys start getting some sleep too! The video is so cute, but so sad because you can tell he's not feeling so hot.
Poor baby. I wish I could be there to snuggle Harrison. I love you! I never liked those nasty breathing treatments either.
Love,
Aunt Sarah
We are praying!
ohhh...that just makes me want to cry. Poor little guy! I had no idea you were sick. I think Lydianne probably told you what she was most freaked out about first, and then she could tell you what the illness was called. I'm glad he's recovering.

OH! I wondered why I didn't get my weekly dose of him in the foyer after church. The dr's freaked me out about RSV with the twins because they were preemies and they were very susceptible. I was nervous until they were 2--it's definitely scary. Poor little harrison.
The poor little guy!! I am so sorry to see him so sick. Ohhhh and that noise of the machine justs brings back some sad memories. I am glad he is doing better. We will keep you all in our prayers. I can't wait to see his smiles again!!
Love you all,
Grandma
Poor baby. Hopefully he is doing better and the worst is over!
By the way, I told you I only told you that story so you wouldn't hesitate to take him to the ER if needed. It's nothing to mess around with and so much better to be safe than sorry!!
I was so sad when I heard that Harrison had RSV. I hope he is feeeling better soon.
