Texas Spring

For those of you who do not know, the bluebonnet is the state flower of Texas, and since Texans are pretty obsessed with everything of or relating to Texas, many families around here often take photos (especially of children) in fields of bluebonnets. I love the flowers, I think they are spectacular and and so refreshing to see at the beginning of Spring, but I have only enjoyed them from afar and never been very close to them. Well, this year, Kris and I decided to start our own family tradition of taking pictures of the kid(s) in the bluebonnets (after all, Harrison is a Texan). I happened to find a nice field on the way home from work earlier this week (I'll tell you where it is for a small fee :) ), and we packed ourselves up and took lots of pictures. I think they turned out great! Surprisingly, the bluebonnets are much different up close than I expected...almost like a mini bush of flowers, not individual sprouts...which made our efforts of NOT trampling them kind of difficult. Kris and I tried to crush as few as we could, but, Harrison, on the other hand, found it quite enjoyable to rip the little bonnets off of their little bluebonnet heads....sorry Mother Nature.

Those are very cute! The one with you and Harrison is my favorite. But you do know that it is illegal to rip out the bluebonnets so I believe Harrison is already starting his trouble making days.

There is no law against picking our State Flower. However, there are laws against criminal trespass so make sure you're not on private property when you stop to take your annual kids-in-the-bluebonnets photo.

Where is that at? I'd love to get some pics of my kids but have yet to spot a decent patch of flowers for it...

We miss you guys...
